Appreciation Awards Press Release-2000February 7, 2000 Teachers, Staff and Citizens Honored for Special Efforts On March 7, 2000, the Sharon Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SSEPAC) will host its first appreciation awards ceremony to honor members of the Sharon Public School system and other individuals who have made an exemplary difference in the lives of school children with special needs. This year parents have selected more thirty (30) recipients, representing special education, regular education, transportation, and other specialists. "There are many teachers who not only make the required modifications to their classroom, but also go the extra mile and really make an extraordinary effort to accommodate multiple learning styles and ensure that students with special needs connect with their peers. These awards are one way for parents to show appreciation to the special education and regular ed staff who have given our kids a wonderful school experience," said Suzanne Peyton, current president of SSEPAC. The 25th anniversary of the implementation of our state special education law, Chapter 766, will also be commemorated. The awards ceremony will be followed by an informal reception.
