The Sharon Advocate, January 4, 2002
Town
unity and spirit shined on Saturday December 15, 2001 as The Harlem
Rockets made their much-anticipated return to Sharon. The Sharon High
School gym was standing room only as the Sharon All Stars took on the
great comedic basketball team, 81 to 90. The event, sponsored by The Sharon
Special Education Parent Advisory Council,
SSEPAC, was a fund-raiser to benefit Sharon students with
special educational needs.
The
evening began with a moving performance of the Star Spangled Banner
by Courtney Walker, a Sharon elementary student. The Rockets then shared
their skill and humor to a medley of songs that got the crowd excited.
Children from the audience were invited to joke, play ball and dance the
Marcarana with the Rockets. It was a night filled with
laughter, joy and warmth for all that attended. |
