GET HELP with UNIVERSAL HOME DESIGN

Do you or some in your family have a disability? Does your house have barriers like hazardous steps at the front entry, narrow doors, tight hallways or a small dangerous bathroom? Do you need to install a ramp or remodel your bathroom to make your home accessible and safe?

The all-volunteer organization, HomeFreeHome, Inc., provides free and low cost architectural design services to people with permanent disabilities who need to remove barriers and open up access in their homes.

To apply for these services, fill out an application questionnaire on HomeFreeHome' s website at http://homefreehome.org The questionnaire asks about your needs and priorities. HomeFreeHome will review all applications, evaluate the feasibility of your proposed project and (if you are selected) assign a local volunteer architect.

The volunteer architect will come to your home and do an assessment, zoning code review, prepare a schematic design and draft construction plans. The HomeFreeHome architect will also assist you with obtaining a building permit. Founded in New York in 2006, HomeFreeHome is a rapidly growing, all-volunteer organization where donations and volunteers with all types of skills are needed. For more information or to become a volunteer member, see HomeFreeHome or call 516.883.0403.

We at HomeFreeHome believe that together, we can make a big difference and bring more independence to many people, so please get involved today!
