Secretary's Report

Minutes of the meetings of September 13 and 30 were approved and accepted.

Treasurer's Report

The net income after all expenses from the Harlem Rockets was $1298.01. Gross receipts were $4446.00. Checking balance as of 11/28/99 was $2525.14 and the savings balance was $1187.33. Total bank balance $3712.47.

Old Business

Inclusion Task Force - Waiting for an independent assessment of the school system. Funding comes from the Federal inclusion grant. Suzanne has been meeting with Bob Doyle regularly.

New Business

We will do the Spring Flower fundraiser again this year.

Gifts for Kids program. Suzanne proposed that we give two $30.00 sponsorships for participants of the program.

Upcoming expenses:

Membership renewal to the Federation
SHS Scholarships $500
Conference vouchers $500 (balance left)
Honorariums $50 (Basic Rights)
Speaker fee $200 (Social Competency)

Stacey Simons researched the cost of a copier. Suggested a Xerox copier/printer at $399.99. Including the cost of supplies it would cost us about .05 per copy. It would really only be useful for small jobs. An alternative for the big jobs would be to utilize the services of Phil Sinrich at .02 a copy. Moved that we purchase the copier for low volume convenience use.

Educational reform. The legislative session is closed with no action being taken. The Board of Education has agreed to table their proposed changes to the regulations effective March 2000. Parents should start to plan to mobilize against the proposed changes. Educational reform for the current year has been fully funded by the Legislature. Sharon is getting $4,517,494 in funds but the Selectmen are reluctant to turn over the entire amount of educational reform money to the schools. SSEPAC plans to send out a petition to release all the funds.

Other Business

Upcoming meetings:

1/11/2000: Basic Rights (includes a book from the Federation which has a $25.00 value). At the Middle School Library. Snow date 1/18.
2/1/2000: Social Competency
3/7/2000: Recognition Awards
March: Spring flower fundraiser
4/4/2000: General meeting, nominations
5/2/2000: General meeting, officer elections

Meeting adjourned at 9:05 PM
