Minutes of June 7, 2000 Meeting

Meeting called to order: 7:15 pm

In Attendance: Mark Baron, Suzanne Peyton, Susan Linehan, Lee Berkowitz, Pam Weir, Stacey Simons, David Levitan, Pauline Stratis

Treasurer's Report

Old Business 

Parent conference reimbursements. We spent $300.00 this year for four parents to attend conferences. The existing policy and requirements were reviewed. David Levitan will draft a formal policy for the next meeting.

High School Scholarships. Two graduating students received scholarships from SSEPAC.

New Business

Sue Linehan proposed a new board position of Past President to ease the transition of officers. Motion made and passed.

Proposed to review the By-Laws for possible revision at a future meeting.

A draft Summer newsletter was handed out for review via e-mail. The summer mailing will consist of the newsletter and an assessment form. The newsletter will be finalized and prepared for mailing at our next meeting July 18 at the Public Library. Comments are due back by July 6.

Workshops. The IEP2000 workshop has been booked for October 10, 2000. Other workshops proposed are for inclusion , ADHD (proposed for November 13 or14, January 23) and assistive technology (Proposed for March 6), April 24 (Appreciation Awards).

Meetings scheduled for July 18 (Public Library), August 8 (Public Library), September 6, December 5 (Discuss Appreciation Awards), February 6 (Discuss Appreciation Awards), April 3 (Nomination Meeting), May 1 (Elections).

Parent to Parent listing will be updated throughout the year by Sue Linehan.

Proposed to set up a Buddy Program with the High School.

Other Business

Mark and Sue Linehan attended the Superintendent's meeting this morning. Industrial Arts has been eliminated at the Middle School, but CHARMS has donated space for it.

Stuart Berkowitz will be the new Principal at the Middle School and Nancy Healy will be the new Principal at the High School. There will be a search committee for Assistant Principals. The School Committee will appoint a replacement for C. DiBella.

School wide council proposed a week of diversity and are leaning to dealing with bullying, etc.

Next Meeting Wednesday July 18 at the Public Library, 7:00 PM.
