No activity last month. Checking account $1645, savings $1187. The non-profit tax filing has been started and should be completed by July 21. There is a check for $37.42 for a Dyslexia book which has not cleared yet.

Old Business

Suzanne Peyton presented a request from MASSPAC to use SSEPAC's 501c3 non-profit status as a conduit to enable MASSPAC to pursue grants. Motion passed.

Legislative Update: July 17, the Senate caved in on MFB and the law will now default to FAPE as of 1/2002.

Upcoming Workshops: IEP 2000, October 3; ADD Workshop, 11/13 or 11/14; Inclusion workshop is on hold due the fee requested by Jerome Shultz; SPED update or Non-verbal learning workshop, 1/23 (choice will be decided at the 8/8 meeting).

New Business

Website: Suggested that we put up links to specific regulation websites as well as a link to the IEP 2000 form.

Fundraisers: 2400 fliers were ordered for the fall bulb sale. Suggested we sell Special Kids pins at Family Week. We need to get more information on the Family Week activities and schedule.

Other Business

We want to prepare a list of the conferences that SSEPAC has sponsored parents to attend in the past.

The Parent to Parent list is being updated. We still need to add names for some specific disabilities to the list.

Disability awareness campaign: Suggested that we put a new topic in the Sharon Advocate each month and include it in the school newsletters. Topics include: ADD, autism, Aspergers, non-verbal learning, speech and language, health issues (asthma, etc.) and behavior/developmental issues.

Next Meeting Tuesday August 8, 2000 at the Public Library, 7:00 PM.

Meeting adjourned at 9:00 PM
