Minutes of September 5, 2000 Meeting

Meeting called to order: 7:10 pm

In Attendance: Suzanne Peyton, Susan Linehan, Lee Berkowitz, Pam Weir, Pauline Stratis, Liz Topaz, Stacey Simons, Alan Bloom

Secretary's Report

The minutes were accepted as read.

Correspondence: Mitch Blaustein was concerned about the lack of press coverage of the school committee. He indicated that they are soliciting for membership in a subcommittee to help get increased publicity. Taxes are complete and all signature cards have been filed with the bank.

Treasurer's Report

Balances as of 9/5/00 are: Checking $1145.28, Savings $1187.33. Total $2332.61.

Old Business 

Fundraisers: Susan distributed a timeline for the Fall Bulb Fundraiser. In addition to the flyers distributed at the elementary schools, we will distribute to the teachers at the Middle and the High School.

Workshops: IEP 2000 Workshop on October 3, pre-registration is a must as the Federation will have handout materials. The November workshop on ADD has been scheduled for November 28, 2000.

Family Week: The formal request for a table at Family Week went out to Dave Clifton. Suzanne brought in some samples of the pins we want to sell.

New Business

School Open Houses: We will prepare items to distribute at the school's open houses. Program schedule, our PAC brochures, sign up forms for mail and e-mail, how to reach us information. We need coverage at the open houses for a table and set up and removal.

Special Education Reform: MASSPAC plans to do a training session on the new Special Education Regulations. Suzanne spoke about some of the changes in the law as well as which aspects of the law haven't changed. The TEAM is still the final determinant of the IEP.

Role of Liaisons: The liaison assists in fundraisers, addition of materials to the school newsletters, going to the PTO meetings if possible. There are no set duties, each liaison determines how to best serve their school.

Next General Meeting November 7, 2000 at the Middle School, 7:00 PM.
