SSEPAC General Meeting, September 6, 2001

Held at the Sharon High School Library

Meeting called to order: 7:05 pm

Secretary's Report

The minutes were reviewed from the August Meeting. Minutes were approved.

An updated Calendar was distributed.

Stacey Simons has resigned as co-treasurer and her duties will be assumed by Debra May.

Treasurer's Report

Checking: $956.69

Savings: $1731.26

Balances as of 7/10/01

Correspondence

14 books on parenting and other subjects were donated to the resource library by Suzanne Peyton.

Workshops & Meetings

10/18: Workshop with the new Superintendent and PPS Director

11/8: Accessing the Curriculum presented by the Federation

School Open Houses

Fundraising

Fall Bulb Fundraiser: The bulb brochures have been distributed to all the schools except the High School. The Sharon Cooperative Day & Nursery School also distributed the flyers to 87 students.

Presentation boards are being prepared for the school open houses.

Harlem Rockets

Tickets will be sold at Roger's Barber Shop, Tedeschi's and Sharon Mart

The Harlem Rockets is set for December 15

Other Business

Suzanne Peyton was introduced officially as the liaison from the School Committee.

LDAM conference is Saturday 12/4 at Children's Hospital

Sue Linehan's meeting with Dr. Loud and Jackson regarding the High School focus group. 8/27 Discussed the fact that Heights has all the special needs programs. Dr. Jackson wants to get the programs closer to the student's home for true inclusion. Both seem really committed to changing the sped system to a better one.

9/6: Sue met with Dr. Loud and she helped revise our brochure.

Sue was impressed with both educators commitment toward sped and education in general.

Challenger basketball starts Sat. 9/8/01.

Task Force for Safe Schools will focus on bullying this year. Mark Baron will serve as the liaison.
