NEWSLETTER, April 2001

SSEPAC wishes to thank everyone who took part in the Flower Bulb fundraiser. Bulbs will be delivered before Spring vacation. SSEPAC has just purchased three Alphasmart keyboarding tools, one for each elementary school. They are being donated to the special education departments of each school.

All nominations have now been received for SSEPAC’s annual Recognition and Appreciation Awards evening, to be held on April 24, at 7:00 PM, at the Sharon Middle School Auditorium. The nominees are individuals who have done something unique that made a positive impact on a child, and all will be recognized that evening. Please mark your calendar and help celebrate the efforts of these award recipients. Their names are:

SSEPAC has purchased a book in honor of Joyce Feeley, who recently passed away. Joyce was an Instructional Assistant in the Town of Sharon preschool program for over 10 years. She was a dedicated and caring professional and respected by all those who worked with her. The book is titled, "Autism Spectrum Disorders: A Transactional Developmental Perspective", by Amy M. Wetherby and Barry M. Prizant. A memorial label will be placed inside the front cover and the book will be placed in the Special Education Resource Area, which is located inside the Sharon High School library. We hope this memorial will be a tribute to Joyce’s contribution to the education of children with special needs in Sharon.

SSEPAC will be having officer elections on Tuesday, May 1, from 7:00-9:00 PM, at the Sharon High School library. If you have attended either one meeting or workshop in the past year, you can vote.
