SSEPAC Newsletter, May 2002Recognition & Appreciation AwardsOn Tuesday, May 7, SSEPAC will be hosting its annual Recognition and Appreciation Awards evening at the Sharon Middle School auditorium from 7-9 PM. We invite you to come to this special event to recognize those who have made a difference in the lives of children with special needs in Sharon. The awards will be going to: Special citizens- Joan Bregy, Community Therapeutic Day School, Lexington, Dave Clifton, director of Sharon Recreation, Fran Litner, Sharon from Temple Beth Emunah, Brockton, Tom Karwacki, Y.C.N., Yoko Phillips, HMEA, Heights: Carol Bratt, Terri Jones, Sheila Kearny, Kara Traficanti, M. Bernadette Dawson, Theresa Sullivan, Amy Argotsinger, Heidi Rubenstein, Elisa Goodwin, Gail Trykowski, Richard Cushing, Cottage: Claire Balfour, Steve Denneno, SMS: Joseph Connelly, Mathilda Lanzel, SHS: Wendy Nason, Judy Wittemore, Eileen Fitzgerald, Amy Strasnick, Students: Jennifer Bethany, Nathan Pedersen, Helen Volf. Light refreshments will be served. Disability Awareness ProgramSue Linehan and Mark Baron have recently attended a forum on implementing a new school-wide disabilities awareness program. The curriculum includes: deafness/hard of hearing, blindness/visual impairment, learning disabilities, physical disabilities, special medical conditions (asthma, diabetes, epilepsy /seizure disorder), and developmental disability/mental retardation. SSEPAC is very excited about this new curriculum and will be hosting an organizational meeting in near future. SSEPAC will be looking people interested in teaching these subjects.
